The Dawn, Pakistan, 22 February 2003 Summary of report from New Delhi
Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said today that what he claims is Pakistan's support of terror could figure in discussions at next week's Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit. When asked if India would try to isolate Pakistan at the NAM meet on the grounds that Islamabad is aiding and abetting terrorism, Vajpayee said: "The issue is likely to come up during our discussions."

Pakistan and China agreed yesterday that they would continue to maintain close coordination and understanding on all matters of bilateral, regional and international interest. The agreement was reached at a meeting held between Foreign Secretary Riaz H. Khokhar and Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The matters discussed included India-Pakistan relations and the Iraq crisis. A Pakistan embassy official, Mohammad Naeem Khan, said that the two sides had reached complete unanimity of views on all matters of bilateral concern. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral ties and decided to continue their efforts to enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. Mr Wang lauded Pakistan's efforts for peace and seeking settlement of its disputes with India through dialogue. Appreciating Pakistan's role in the fight against terrorism, he said China greatly valued its friendship with Pakistan and wished to maintain it under all circumstances.

Mr. Khokhar also met Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and briefed him about Pakistan's position on various regional and international issues. He conveyed greetings from President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to the Chinese leadership. Mr Tang said the Chinese Government attached great importance to its relations with Pakistan. Mr. Khokhar is on a three-day visit to China on the invitation of Mr. Wang. He is scheduled to proceed to Malaysia to join the entourage of President Musharraf at the Non-Aligned Movement summit.
