Macedonian Information Agency, Macedonia, 17 January 2003 Summary of report
Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski expressed readiness to accept the EU initiative for taking over of the NATO mission in the country at the meeting he had with EU High Representative of Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana. The decision will soon be submitted to the EU in written form. It is in accordance with the Berlin Plus agreement, which guarantees the future development of the relations between Macedonia and NATO and provides new prospects for Macedonia's integration in the EU.
Note:
The main issue is if the EU will intervene on behalf of the big Albanian minority in Macedonia, which has been responsible for much violence there.
