Summary of report from Abu Dhabi

Next week, the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society is to execute a humanitarian program in Eritrea in a bid to ease the population's suffering due to the food shortage. Red Crescent Society Board Chairman Khalifa Al- Suweidi told Eritrean ambassador Osman Idris Jimey that the relief supplies include large quantities of foodstuffs and medicines. He assured the envoy of the RCS 's readiness to help Eritrea pass the current hard times.

Ambassador Jimey thanked the society for its generous assistance to his country. He also briefed Al Suweidi on the situation in Eritrea, where more than two million people are facing abject conditions owing to the lack of rain during the farming season.
